KARACHI, June 9: Police have collected some vital evidence which may lead to the arrest of those involved in suicide bombings at the Hyderi mosque and Imambargah Ali Raza.

Besides, a clue has been found to those involved in the killing of Mufti Nizamuddin Shamzai, said DIG Investigations Fayyaz Ahmed Leghari at a high-level meeting, presided over by the IGP Sindh Syed Kamal Shah, on Wednesday.

Mr Leghari informed the meeting that some people had been included in the investigation process in the Hyderi mosque blast. However, he did not spoke about the arrests, so far, made as regards saboteurs involved in terrorism in May.

Some 65 people lost their lives in bomb blasts, violence and targeted killings in May. A bomb explosion rocked the Hyderi mosque on May 7. Another explosion occurred at KPT on May 25.

Two car bomb blasts took place outside the PACC on May 26. Mufti Shamzai was assassinated on May 30 and a powerful blast occurred at Imambargah Ali Raza on May 31. The IGP asked the DIG CID, Javed Bokhari, and the DIG Investigations to prepare a data about most wanted terrorists, and also to upgrade it in the police red-book.

He asked the officials to launch a drive to create an awareness among people regarding protection from acts of terrorism. Regarding security at mosques and Imambargah, the IGP directed that management committees of mosques and Imambargahs be taken into confidence while carrying out body search of people entering mosques and imambargahs.
