UNITED NATIONS, June 7: The United States and Britain sought a quick vote on a fourth revised UN resolution on Iraq following exchange of letters by the Iraqi government and the United States submitted to the council on Sunday night.

Following closed door consultation on Sunday US Ambassador John Negroponte said a revised draft will be introduced on Monday and the text will be finalized by Monday night, "With the idea of voting on it on Tuesday afternoon or Tuesday evening."

Asked by reporters about the amendments submitted by France supported by other Council members, Mr Negroponte said: "I will not discuss these issues here," but indicated that the issue will be resolved during the Council meeting.

However, France, Germany, Chile, Algeria and other council members said they want a significant addition to the text: a reference to the new government's relationship with the multinational force that would give the Iraqis a veto over "sensitive offensive operations."
