SARGODHA, June 4: Shahpur Saddar police on Friday registered a case against a union council Naib Nazim and his 15 companions and sent them behind bars when the official 'rebuked' an SHO while reviewing investigation in a murder case.

Reports said Shahpur Saddar police team had been investigating a dacoity case of Shahzadpur village. During the course of investigation, Aqil Shah UC Naib Nazim Shahzad Taimoor allegedly rebuked SHO Malik Ashraf, claiming that the latter had been favouring the suspects.

At this ASP Mobarak Zeb Khan directed the SHO to register a criminal case against the Naib Nazim and his men for interfering in the police's affairs.

EXCISE DEPT: The Excise and Taxation Department higher-ups have enhanced official timings from eight hours to 12 hours for a month to achieve the tax recovery target.

Malik Safdar Ali Awan, the department's director, has also reportedly cancelled the weekly holiday of all the employees. The local department had recovered 80 per cent of the target of Rs135 million during this year. Mr Awan said strict action would be taken against defaulters.
