KHAIRPUR, June 2: A man, Ishaque Keerio, was bitten by a snake near Faqirabad on Tuesday. He was rushed to the Gambat Taluka Hospital from where doctors referred him to Khairpur due to unavailability of anti- snakebite venom (ASV). The man died on his way to Khairpur.

KILLED: A man, Liaquat Mari, 18, was killed on an old enmity in the limits of Tando Masti police station on Tuesday. A murder case was registered against Gul Hassan Mari, Sattar Mari and Irshad Mari on the complainant of Biro Khan, the father of the killed man.

DUST STORM: A dust storm hit Khairpur town and its surroundings on Tuesday night. As a result the power supply was suspended, compelling people to get up in the midnight.

The dust storm continued for about two hours. It was for the first time that such a hot winds hit the area in the night. According to growers the hot dust storm affected vegetables and newly cultivated cotton crop.

BOOKED: A case was registered against five people, one of them a woman, for forcible marriage of a girl. Nazeer Bughio lodged a report that Sughra, Ghulam Qamar, Mohammad Bachal, Ghulam Qadir and Ghulam Sarwar kidnapped his daughter Sabran and forcibly married her with Ghulam Qadir. The Faiz Ganj police booked the accused under section 11-16 of the Zina Hudood Ordinance.

SUICIDE: A youth, Mohammad Saleh, committed suicide by taking pesticide in Ahmedpur town on Wednesday. The motive behind the suicide is said to be delay in marriage.

SEMINAR: Coordinator of National Reconstruction Bureau Brig (retd) Masood held a meeting with the DCO, taluka nazims and EDOs of different departments here on Wednesday.

He informed them that the NRB had planned to organize a seminar in Khairpur on June 17, aiming at strengthening the district government system. He also said that the NRB would fund different schemes through Citizens' Community Board with the allocation of Rs445,000 for each union council of the district.
