LARKANA, May 31: Activists of the Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam (Fazl) took out a procession here on Monday to protest against the assassination of religious scholar Mufti Nizamuddin Shamzai.

JUI local leader Iqbal Soomro led the procession that emerged from the Madressah Ishaatul Quran and, after marching on main roads of city, ended at Pakistan Chowk.

The participants, raising slogans against the Sindh governor, chief minister and the Muttahida Qaumi Movement, burnt tyres and blocked the road. Those who spoke on the occasion criticized the Sindh government for failing to combat crime and provide security to the religious scholars.

They demanded early arrest of the killers of Mufti Shamzai. Reports of protest rallies and demonstrations were received from Ratodero, Kambar, Shahdadkot, Warah and Mirokhan.

SANGHAR: A protest procession was taken out by religious parties in Khipro on Monday against the murder of Mufti Nizamuddin Shamzai in Karachi on Sunday. The protesters also forced shopkeepers to close their shops.

The procession started from Jamia Masjid and reached at the Shaheed Chowk after marching through various roads. The protesters demanded arrest of the killers of Mufti Shamzai.

DADU: Activists of the Sunni Action Committee and the Jamiat Farooq-i-Azam held a demonstration in Mehar and Faridabad on Monday to protest against the killing of Mufti Nizamuddin Shamzai.

Led by Maulana Hussain Panhwar and Abdul Qayoom Chandio, the protesters demanded arrest of the killers.

NAWABSHAH: A protest meeting of the Jamiat Ulema-i- Islam-F was held here on Monday. Presided over by Maulana Hizbullah Khoso, president, Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal, Nawabshah, the meeting condemned the killing of Mufti Nizamuddin Shamzai in Karachi and demanded immediate arrest of his killers.
