ISLAMABAD, May 30: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) is likely to get a mammoth funding of Rs1.128 billion for various development projects under the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) 2004-05 , a source told Dawn on Sunday.

The source said the amount would be released under the proposals of Annual Plan Coordination Committee (APCC). An amount of Rs102.682 million has been proposed by the committee for the ongoing dualization of IJ Principal Road from Faizabad to Pirwadhai.

For the improvement of phase I, II, III of Sewage Treatment Plant and construction of its phase-IV, the committee has proposed Rs220 million, including Rs200 million foreign aid.

Likewise, for the dualization of Islamabad Highway from Gumrah Bridge to Rawat, an amount of Rs65 million has been proposed. For the construction of service block and shifting of electricity equipment at Awan-i-Sadr, an allocation of Rs66.729 million has been suggested.

The committee proposed Rs67.291 million for the construction of third lane of Islamabad Highway from flying club turning to Faizabad interchange.An amount of Rs37.399 million was suggested for some construction work at the Convention Centre. Similarly, an allocation of Rs295 million was proposed for the procurement of fire-fighting vehicles for the federal capital.

For the construction of second carriageway of Kashmir Highway from Dhokri Chowk to Zero Point, a sum of Rs69.16 million has been proposed. The committee also proposed an allocation of Rs40 million for EXPO 2005 in Islamabad.

It also suggested allocation of Rs1.8 million for the water supply and sanitation network in Shakrial, and Rs3 million for water supply in Bharakahu. The APCC proposed the allocation of Rs11.181 million for the construction of ICT administration's judicial and administration complex. For setting up six women community centres in Islamabad, an amount of Rs1.1 million was proposed.

The committee proposed Rs10.77 million for the widening and improvement of 65km rural roads; Rs9 million for the 25km roads in Tarlai; Rs8.5 million for the 25km roads in Sihala; and Rs2 million for the construction of a basic health unit at Tarnol.

An amount of Rs9.8 million was proposed for the replacement/purchase of agricultural machinery and equipment in Islamabad territory. For the construction of the building of National Institute of Fire Technology, Islamabad, an amount of Rs20 million has been proposed.

Th committee suggested allocation of Rs3.515 million for the establishment of forest nurseries and Block-A forestation, while an amount of Rs2 million was proposed for the establishment of computer literacy centres in nine union council.

A sum of Rs51 million was proposed for different rural areas development programmes, including internal roads, street pavement in Bharakahu, Jarrani, Hathial, and water supply schemes at Koral, Khana Dak, Chuchkal, Sihala and Tarlai.
