SARGODHA May 28: The Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly, MMA secretary-general Maulana Fazlur Rahman, has said there is no need to make tall claims about the increase in foreign exchange reserves and decrease in foreign debts, as people only want jobs and deflation.

He was talking to newsmen at Jamia Qadria in Bhakkar, flanked by Punjab JUI Amir Mualana Muhammad Abdullah. Responding to a question about Islamic laws, he said that Gen Pervez Musharraf was not an expert in Islamic jurisprudence.

His statement about changes in Islamic Hudood was indicative of his secular mentality and his wish to please his western masters. He said that Islamic laws would be defended vehemently. "We shall also play the role of opposition in the NSC," he added.

Meanwhile, Almi Majlis Khatm-i-Nabuwat secretary-general Maulana Manzoor Ahmed Chinioti said while addressing a conference here that he had motivated some parliamentarians to table a resolution for issuance of distinctive identity cards for Qadianis and acquisition of their places of worship by the Auqaf department.

He said nobody would be allowed to change blasphemy or Hudood laws. Muslims were the only nation that advocated death sentence for those who blasphemed against their prophet as well as for those who blasphemed against other prophets, he observed.
