SUKKUR, May 28: Police have refused to register the FIR in a kidnapping case citing the issue of jurisdiction as the reason, it was learnt here on Thursday. This is the fourth case of kidnapping in the area in recent days.

The parents of two Hindu students of the Government Degree College, Sukkur, missing for five days received a phone call on Thursday, in which the kidnappers informed them that both the boys were in their custody, and to wait for another call and arrange a ransom payment.

Satish Kumar and his cousin, Parkash Lal, both residents of Chak town, Shikarpur district, were kidnapped from the Military Road, Sukkur, where they used to go for tuitions.

Police have refused to register the FIR, saying it was a jurisdictional issue. This is the fourth case of alleged kidnapping in the last one week. In the first case, a brother and sister, Tanoo Mal and Ms Dileep Kumar, have been missing for five days.

Both were on their way to Choondko from Sukkur. In the second case, on May 17, Hafiz Mohammad Ismail and Naveed Shahzad Maseeh, both medical representatives, had gone to Jacobabad in a car, and are missing till today.

In the third case, two students of the Mono Technical College, Sukkur, Asad Mirani and Shaukat Jalbani, were kidnapped by a group of armed dacoits, and their parents are still waiting for their return.
