DERA GHAZI KHAN, Oct 1: The district Nazim issued show-cause notices to three district council members, including Naib Nazim of Dera Ghazi Khan tehsil, for not taking part in the government-organized solidarity day rallies.

Nazim Jamal Khan Leghari issued notices on Sept 28 to Jamaat-i-Islami backed members, Usman Farooq (district council member), Khalid Rauf (tehsil Naib Nazim), and Abu Bakkir Sadiq (district council member and Nazim of an urban union council of Dera Ghazi Khan).

When contacted, the Jamaat-i-islami circles confirmed the issuance of notices.

According to sources, the notices were delivered confidentially to them. They said the notice which was sent to Mr Bakkir was different from others as he was charged with delivering ‘objectionable’ remarks during a meeting of district council members hosted by the district administration.

The Jamaat sources told Dawn that they were busy in preparing appropriate reply to the show-cause notice. They said they had sent the letter to the party leadership at Mansoora, Lahore.
