TOBA TEK SINGH, May 25: Public circles have expressed concern over the unavailability of stamp papers used for affidavits. They complained that the district had run short of stamp papers of Rs10, Rs15, Rs20, Rs25 and Rs30 denominations as a result they had to purchase papers of higher denominations.
When contacted, stamp paper licence holders claimed that they had not been supplied with the papers for the last two weeks by the exchequer branch of local accounts office.
CROPS INUNDATED: Crops stretching over hundreds of acres of land were inundated on Tuesday when a breach occurred in Khura distributary of the Jhang branch near Chak 394-JB Jaja.
A spokesman for irrigation employees union alleged that some influential farmers were involved in making a breach to irrigate their lands but the farmers complained that the breach took place due to the 'negligence' of the irrigation department staff. Later, it was plugged by the irrigation staff and the cultivators of the area.
FAX MACHINE: Traders and journalists have protested against the Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited for its failure to replace or repair the out-of-order fax machine of the local telegraph office.
The machine has been out of order for the last many months. A local union of journalists office-bearer said he had contacted the Faisalabad PTCL general manager many a times for resolving the problem, but to no avail. He urged the federal telecommunications minister to ask the officials concerned to redress their complaint.
