VEHARI, May 23: Six people, including a woman, were killed and 25 others injured on Sunday in an accident on Vehari-Burewala Road near Pakhi Morr, some 15kms from here.

A bus (LR-4367), going to Lahore from Vehari, crashed into another bus (QAJ-3849) coming from the opposite side. The impact was so severe that both the buses overturned.

Four people, identified as driver Haji Nawaz of Toba Tek Singh, Abdul Razzaq of 32/WB, Vehari; Muhammad Husain of Chak 5/WB, Vehari; and Bukhshan Bibi, died instantly while two others, unidentified so far, perished at the local DHO Hospital.

Out of the 25 injured, 10 were in serious condition at the DHQ Hospital while two of them were shifted to Nishtar Hospital, Multan. Those injured include Saqib, Khizar Hayat (Haroonabad), Sultan, Muhammad Husain, Abbas (Kandor), Faqir Husain (Faisalabad), Sheikh Amjad (Vehari), Sharif, Saleem, Siddique, Allah Ditta, Rana Faryad, Azher Mushtaq, Atif Ali, Nasrin Akhtar, Hafeez Bibi, Naveed Anjum, Muhammad Yar, Ashiq Ali and Noor Bano.

Eyewitnesses claimed that the accident happened due to over speeding. Machiwal police are going into the matter.
