PESHAWAR, May 16: The NWFP Minister for Information Technology, Hussain Ahmad Kanju, has said that the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal government during the last 18 months did a tremendous job in different social sectors , particularly in health and education sectors.

Talking to a French delegation led by Mr Goillame de Vauclerey at his office here the other day, he said the government's welfare steps were also acknowledged by the west and donor agencies.

He clarified about enforcement of Shariat and introduction of Hasba Act, saying that there was nothing against humanity and human rights in the Hasba Act but its enforcement will ensure good governance and speedy justice in line with Islamic values to the people locally.

Mr Kanju while referring to the South Waziristan situation in tribal areas said that the MMA believes in negotiation and its view point on the said issue from the day first was, its resolution through traditional jirga system.

He called upon the members of the delegation to play their role to negate the deadly propaganda regarding the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal government in the West. The minister for information also briefed the delegation regarding the new and ongoing projects in science and technology sectors and government's other development plan in detail. -PPI
