GUJRANWALA, May 20: Seven persons masquerading themselves as TV licence checking team inspectors were booked while three of them were arrested by Naushera Virkan police on Monday.

They were extorting money from subscribers when the police on a tip-off raided there and arrested Rana Shahbaz Ahmad, Rana Nisar Ahmad and Muhammad Sajid. Their other accomplices Rana Iftikhar Ahmad, Rana Shakeel Ahmad, Muhammad Baber and a woman managed to escape.

Police are going into the matter.

TWO YOUTHS CRUSHED: Two youths were crushed to death by a speeding car here on Monday.

Iftikhar Hussain, the brother of union council No 40 Nazim Altaf Hussain, was on his way home along with his friend Sajjad Ali by motorcycle. Near the New Vegetables Market, the speeding car knocked them down. They died on the spot.

GIRL STABBED: A girl was stabbed to death on Monday by her cousin over strained relations at Rahwali on Monday.

Anam Shahzadi was alone when Muhammad Khalid entered the house and stabbed her with a knife. She died on the spot. Cantonment police removed the body to the local DHQ Hospital.

A case has been registered against the accused.
