ISLAMABAD, May 10: The Pakistan People's Party (PPP) has expressed its concern over millions of rupees allegedly wasted by the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) on an aborted scheme to replace seats of its fleet of Airbus aircraft.

A PPP spokesman, Senator Farhatullah Babar, in a statement issued here on Monday, said the seats replacement scheme of the PIA, which was abandoned midway when the Airbus manufacturers refused to give permission, had cost millions to the taxpayers.

Calling for a probe into the issue, the PPP leader said those who hatched the scheme for personal aggrandizement must not only be exposed and punished, but the looted money be also recovered from them.
