KARACHI, May 7: Muttahida Qaumi Movement chief Altaf Hussain has served a warning on feudals to stop harassing or intimidating voters in the interior of Sindh or face the wrath of the people.

Speaking at an election rally in North Karachi on Thursday, he simultaneously asked the governor and the chief minister of the province to ensure administration's neutrality in electioneering.

The executive machinery must avoid becoming a tool in the hands of waderas and jagirdars, who have no other aim but to rig elections through coercive means, he said. Such unscrupulous elements have no other objective but to be in the power corridors because that is the easiest way to add to their ill-gotten wealth, said Mr Hussain.

He issued the warning in the wake of complaints that those wielding authority in villages or remote areas were forcing the people to toe their line, which was against the norms and must be avoided.

He also asked the people to beware of the designs of the so-called clerics who were asking to vote for book. Mr Hussain also criticized Maulana Fazalur Rahman, Qazi Hussain Ahmed, Munawar Hussain and others.
