LAHORE, May 6: The police raided various places in the city and took into custody around a dozen PML-N workers here on Thursday. Among those arrested was a councillor from Shahdara , who was booked under 16-MPO on charges of instigating the area people against the government.
However, six party activists, held in Hanjarwal and Kot Lakhpat localities, were set free after they filled surety bonds promising they would not take part in arrangements being made to greet exiled PML-N president Shahbaz Sharif. Meanwhile, raids continued till the filing of this report with police deployed at all important offices of the party and houses of its main leaders.
SHEIKHUPURA: The district police have started to arrest PML-N activists, acting under directions of the high-ups. The first one to be arrested in this connection was ardent PML-N leader Arif Khan Sandeelaha.
At the time, he was sitting at his ice factory in Nawan Pind some 25km away from here with scores of area people, who were there to condole his father's death. He was arrested by the Bhekhi police under 16-MPO.
FAISALABAD: Local police raided the offices and houses of some PML-N leaders here on Wednesday night but failed to make any arrest. The police raided the office and residence of PML-N city president, former MPA Khawaja Muhammad Islam, former MNA Mian Abdul Mannan and some other local PML-N leaders and activists.
The police personnel searched the houses and offices but failed to find any of the PML-N leaders. The PML-N leaders alleged that policemen misbehaved with their females during the search operation. Meanwhile, almost all leaders of the PML-N have gone into hiding to avoid arrest before the return of Shahbaz Sharif.
