KARACHI, May 4: Federal Minister for Communications Senator Babar Khan Ghauri said here on Monday that the government would lay a heavy hand on hostile forces. "All development projects, including Gwadar port project, would proceed apace," he said , while speaking to newsmen at the Aga Khan University Hospital.
The minister visited the hospital to inquire about the health of the injured in the Gwadar bomb blast and to ensure due medical care to them. Eleven injured, two of them Pakistanis, were flown to Karachi by a special flight on Monday for treatment.
The minister said that there is a possibility of a link between Sunday's blast of gas pipeline in Jacobabad and the Gwadar incident. "Anti-social elements do not want any development in Pakistan." However, he said they would fail in their nefarious designs.
The minister said he had a meeting with the Chinese Ambassador in Islamabad who assured that China would continue its support to Pakistan. Chinese Counsel General in Karachi said Chinese experts would complete accomplish their tasks on different projects across the country.
To a question, the counsel-general said the bodies of three Chinese, who were killed in the blast would be flown to their homes after completion of legal formalities. Chinese Commercial Counsellor, Chairman, Karachi Port Trust Vice Admiral Ahmed Hayyat, Chairman, Port Qasim Authority Taj Muhammad Khattak and Chairman, Pakistan National Shipping Corporation accompanied the minister.
GOVERNOR: Balochistan Governor Owais Ahmed Ghani visited the Aga Khan Hospital on Tuesday and inquired about the welfare of Chinese and Pakistani personnel injured in the car bomb blast near Gwadar Port on Monday.
He met all the injured individually and expressed his good wishes and prayed for their speedy recovery. Some of the injured were doing well and are likely to be discharged by this evening, hospital sources said.
Meanwhile, Sindh chief secretary Dr. Muttawakil Kazi has directed the health department to provide all the best health and medical facilities to nine injured of the Gwadar car bomb blast.
Immediately after the injured were shifted to Karachi, he arranged ambulances for removing them to the hospital and personally went to the hospital to get them admitted.
Meanwhile, he arranged eight fire fighting vehicles for putting out the fire that broke out at Sheraton Hotel. Dr. Kazi himself inspected and monitored fire-fighting and also guided fire-fighters. -PPI
