UN session: CE to consult politicians

Published October 27, 2001

ISLAMABAD, Oct 26: President Gen Pervez Musharraf is going to initiate a process of consultations with political leaders from Monday to take them into confidence about his upcoming address to the UN General Assembly next month.

Official sources told NNI here on Friday that this renewed interaction was also necessitated due to the fast changing world scenario after the US attacks on Afghanistan.

The President would also take the political leaders into confidence over his talks with the world leaders visiting Pakistan recently.

The political leaders would be invited in groups and this process would begin next week, said the sources.

The Chief Executive’s secretariat is said have completed the homework in this connection and the names of politicians belonging to various political parties have already been sought.

The names of initial group would be decided on Saturday. —NNI
