KASUR, April 1: The district government will collaborate with the Punjab Arts Council to spend an evening recalling the message of Hazrat Baba Bulleh Shah on April 18.
Renowned poets and singers will read out the message of the saint at the gathering at his shrine. This was announced at a meeting chaired by the DCO, Capt Hashim Tareen. Tehsil Nazim Malik Rasheed Khan and Baba Bulleh Shah Majlis President Khadim Ali Khokhar were prominent among those present.
The participants were informed that the ceremony would be presided over by Provincial Management and Professional Development Minister Sardar Hassan Akhtar Moakal while foreign minister Mian Khurshid Mahmood Kasuri would be the chief guest. Badar Mian Qawal, Shaukat Ali and Iqbal Bahu are among those invited to read out the kalaam of the saint.
SEMINAR: A seminar on the role of agriculture in the economy and the farmers' problems and their solutions was held at the district bar auditorium under the auspices of the Anjuman-i-Kashtkaran.
Anjuman secretary-general Chaudhry Muzaffar Ali presented a comprehensive report on the role of agriculture and problems facing the farmers. Punjab Aiwan-i-Zarrat President Azam Cheema criticized the government for increasing the prices of pesticides, diesel, agricultural medicines and electricity every year.
The other farmer leaders stated that 80 per cent of the country's population was attached with agriculture, but the government was providing no relief to the farmers.
They said the potato growers had become financially weak in the last three years. They threatened that they would take to streets if the government would not solve their problems.
KILLED: A donkey cart owner was killed in an accident with a wagon at Jabomail village on the Raiwind Road on Wednesday. Police said Muhammad Asif was going to his village on his donkey cart when a speeding wagon (FDF-5119) hit him. He was grievously injured and died on way to the General Hospital in Lahore.
