KARACHI, March 30: A number of encroachments, including several offices of the agriculture and home departments and the Road Transport Authority, near Gate No 4 of the Governor's House , were removed on Tuesday by the city district government.

The enforcement and revenue department of the CDGK, after retrieving land from the encroachers handed it over to the Sindh government's works department. The Governor House plans to build apartments for its employees on the land.

A CDGK spokesman said the CDGK had completed all legal formalities before taking such an action, and encroachers had earlier been given notices. A final notice was issued to them more than a week back.

They were asked to voluntarily vacate the land by March 28. The anti-encroachment operation was supervised by the CDGK's district officer. No unpleasant incident took place during the operation.
