KARACHI: CHK burns unit renovated

KARACHI, March 30: Work on construction and renovation of the 60-bed Burns Centre of Civil Hospital Karachi has been completed and it will start functioning within two months.

CHK MS Mirza Raza Ali told PPI that the burns centre is constructed at an approximate cost of over Rs100 million at the Jubilee Block of the hospital. The Sindh government and the Friends of Burns Centre have contributed for equipment and renovation work.

He said new burns centre has been equipped with two Operation Theatres, one emergency operation theatre, skin grafting, intensive care unit and other necessities. ICU has a capacity of 12 beds, but this figure could be doubled in case of emergency.

The MS said the centre would have facilities of patient recovery area and rehabilitation, 24-hours clinical laboratory, epithelial cultural laboratory, skin bank and bacteriological laboratory (in second phase), resource centre, out-patient department, free diagnosis service and treatment. -PPI
