KARACHI, March 29: A mushaira in memory of humorous poet Syed Mohammad Jaferi was held at Karachi Club on Sunday. Chaired by Aftab Ahmad Khan of Urdu University, the mushaira was attended among others by Ali Jaferi from Islamabad - the late Mohammad Jaferi's son. He read out a paper recalling his father's contribution to poetry. Ziaul Haq Qasmi did the compering.

Among the poets who entertained the audience included Amirul Islam Hashmi, Inayat Ali Khan from Hyderabad, Herfun Lucknavi, Dr Inamul Haq Javed and Sarfraz Shahid both from Islamabad.

Haider Husnain Jaleesi, Azra Sadiq, Nusrat Ali and Rafiq Moghal were also among the participants. Ataul Haq Qasmi, Aftab Zaidi, Yaver Mehdi and Mahmood Hasan were among the audience who remained till last in the mushaira, concluded after one a.m.

Members of the Adbi Committee Qaiser Ali Mirza, Mohammed Salman Saleh Hafeez Memon and Hilal Rizvi welcomed the guests. The convener Karachi Club Shahnawaz Hasan Khan thanked the audience. The mushaira was held in a peaceful and pleasant atmosphere.
