SIALKOT, March 29: A multi-purpose sports complex would be constructed in Kotli Mir Ali village on 10 acres of land donated by noted hockey commentator Zakir Husain Syed.

Giving details to newsmen here, district Nazim Mian Naeem Javed and Sialkot DCO Syed Tahir Raza Naqvi said the federal government had allocated a special grant of Rs40 million to build squash, volleyball and basketball courts and lay tartan track.

The first phase would be completed in 18 months at an estimated cost of Rs40 million while a gymnasium would also be constructed in the second phase at a cost of Rs29 million.

PHONE EXCHANGE: National Assembly Speaker Chaudhry Amir Husain inaugurated on Monday the work on addition of 300 lines in the newly set up digital telephone exchange in Chaprar village. The project would cost Rs2.5 million.

GRANT: Punjab Public Accounts Committee chairman MPA Azim Noori Ghuman handed over a cheque for Rs500,000 to Sambrial Press Club chairman Naeem Sadiquie. The grant was announced by Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi during his visit to the club on December 18 last.
