PESHAWAR, March 26: All Teachers Association (FR), Peshawar, has expressed concern over the gruesome murder of a senior teacher and has demanded arrest of his killers immediately.
Speaking at a news conference here on Friday at the Peshawar Press Club, Malik Abdul Qayyum Khan Afridi, the association president, said that Nusrat Shah, a senior teacher at Government High School Fareedi, Peshawar, was asked by the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Peshawar, to report for examination duty on March 9 at Government High School, Mian Issakhel, Charsadda district.
On the morning of March 9, he said, Nusrat Shah left for Mian Issakhel, Charsadda. However, police found his dead body the next morning on the bank of Khiali River near Gulabad locality. The killers had thrown his body which carried visible marks of violence, he said.
He said that they had been constantly in touch with Charsadda police and assistant political agent FR, Peshawar, but even after a lapse of 16 days no action was forthcoming.
The association's chief said: "Hue and cry is raised when someone is abducted from the settled areas to tribal belt, but there is no action when a teacher of the tribal belt is murdered in the settled area."
He demanded of the government to award cash money to the children of the deceased teacher and make arrangements for their free education. He said that the teacher community would boycott the examination duties in the future if the government failed to arrest the killers of Nusrat Shah.
