HYDERABAD, March 25: Over 250 college teachers under the banner of Sindh Professors and Lecturers Association staged a rally outside the press club on Thursday against non- acceptance of their demands.

College teachers from Thatta, Mirpurkhas and Hyderabad participated in the protest. They carried banners inscribed with slogans of "issue notification about the accepted demands of the college teachers, remove the chief secretary".

Speaking on the occasion, the central secretary general SPLA, Agha Khalid condemned the government for its deplorable attitude towards the college teachers.

He said teachers were held in high esteem but the Sindh government had refused to accept their genuine demands and compelled them to come out on the roads. He warned if the problems of the college teachers were not resolved by march 31, they reserved the right to launch a protest movement throughout Sindh.

Professor Sher Khan Selaro, Professor Shahjehan Panhwar, Professor Abdullah Mallah and others warned the government that if notification about the promotion of 507 teachers was not issued by March 31 and other demands were not accepted, the teachers would launch a movement for the removal of Sindh chief minister and chief secretary.

Earlier, a general body meeting of the college teachers of the Hyderabad region was held which severely criticized the chief secretary who they alleged had returned the summary about the accepted demands of teachers.

They also rapped the Sindh chief minister for closing his eyes and taking no notice of the teachers protest. The meeting decided to stage a sit-in outside the Sindh chief minister house at Karachi for an indefinite period till the resolution of their problems.
