LARKANA, March 24: A doctor, his son and brother were killed in the Qazi Ahmed village located in the jurisdiction of Khabar police station on Wednesday. The ill-fated Dr Mohammed Arif Buriro, his son, Faisal Buriro, and brother, Farooque Buriro, were on their way to Shahdadkot on a motorcycle to attend a court hearing when some armed men opened fire on them, killing all three on the spot.

The incident took place on the outskirts of their village. The assailants escaped from the scene of crime. The bodies were handed over to the relatives after autopsy. The cause of the triple murder was said to be old enmity having roots in the infamous custom of 'Karo-Kari', the sources said. No FIR had been lodged till filing of this report.

BY-ELECTION: The electioneering in the district for 50 seats is yet to gain momentum though the local government by-election is scheduled for March 28. The local election officer said 258 polling stations had been established for the purpose.

The candidate for seat of Nazim of the Qubo Saeed Khan Union Council, candidates for seats of Naib Nazims of Yaro Lakhir and Hazarwah union councils and candidates for 75 councillors' posts had returned uncontested, election office sources said. According to the election office, 132 candidates are in the run for the 50 seats in the district.

No nomination papers have been filed for 58 seats. The sources there would be no election in the Shahdadkot taluka as candidates for all 14 posts had returned unopposed.
