KARACHI, March 23: Some people trying to give an impression that the Karachi Building Control Authority is defying orders by complicating issues between the authority and the city government, KBCA's chief Brig A.S. Nasir said on Tuesday.

He said that the building authority was implementing instructions issued by Sindh Chief Secretary Dr Mutawakkil Kazi in this regard. The KBCA was part of the city government and the City Nazim was its chief executive and it was serving the people under the Sindh Building Ordinance.

He said this while inspecting KBCA's demolition squad in the PECHS area. He urged the authority's staff to rapidly increase the city government's income, enabling it to complete various development projects as soon as possible.

Some vested interests, he said, were creating hurdles in revenue generation by trying to focus on the differences between city government and the KBCA, adding they would not succeed.

He said that even if he was made COB or EDO, he would continue serving the people. Meanwhile, KBCA's spokesperson Naseem Farha clarified that no press conference was held on March 20, however, a special meeting of BPS-18 BPS-19 officers was held, adding that a briefing was held in which journalists were invited. - PPI
