KARACHI, March 23: Adviser to Sindh Chief Minister Waseem Akhtar has asked the Karachi Electric Supply Corporation to minimize the voltage fluctuations in the city.

He was speaking at the inauguration of a 250KVA pole-mounted transformer in Pehlawan Goth, Gulistan-i-Jauher, on Tuesday. The adviser said the high fluctuations in power supply to different areas was affecting people adversely. This should be rectified on a priority basis, he told KESC officials.

Waseem Akhtar also asked KESC officials to attend public complaints on a priority basis and further improve their working. He also advised KESC officials to stop overbilling.

Commenting on the efforts to improve the distribution system of the KESC, he said that the installation of PMTs at power fluctuation areas would improve power supply and remove public grievances.

The advisor said the provision of basic necessities, including water, power and gas, to the less developed areas was a priority of the government. He said the solution of peoples' problems was the duty of nazims under the present system of local government, but they were not fulfilling their duties.

KESC Chief Engineer Anis Qureshi said the corporation was supply electricity to the area under one window operation. This will remove the complaint of over billing. He said the KESC would soon organize a camp in the area to provide power connections for Rs30,000 each. The amount will be payable in four instalments. - APP
