LAHORE, March 21: A cavalier unbeaten 86 by Arif Mahmood propelled Karachi to a thrilling one-wicket victory over Lahore in the Quaid-i-Azam One-day Cup match at the LCCA Ground on Sunday.
Arif blasted seven sixes and five boundaries in his 88-ball innings as Karachi knocked off the required target of 222 off the last ball of the game. The visitors needed four runs, but Arif struck a huge six over mid-wicket off Adil Nisar to settle the match.
Earlier, despite Saleem Elahi hitting 118 (12 fours), Lahore were bowled out for 221 in 45.2 overs. In other matches, Mohammad Ramzan's undefeated 100 guided Faisalabad to a nine-wicket victory over Quetta in Sargodha, while Peshawar scored a narrow one run win against Hyderabad in the first-ever match played at the Abbottabad Cricket Stadium. In the remaining fixture, Rawalpindi thrashed Multan by 98 runs at KRL Stadium.
