KARACHI, March 21: City Nazim Niamatullah Khan has said that consultants would be appointed, for the first time, for cleaning, repair and construction of drains in the city.

He was speaking at a meeting, held in his office on Saturday, with Nazims of the Lyari Town Union Council in connection with the next budget. The meeting discussed imposition of section 144 to facilitate the plan for the shifting of illegal truck and bus stands, set up in certain parts of Lyari, to some other places outside the town.

The meeting decided that anti-mosquito spray would be started from Lyari Town whereas services of consultants would be acquired for improving the city's sewerage system.

Town Monitoring Groups have been formed under Tameer-i-Karachi Programme for the purpose of proposing and planning new projects in the budget. The City Nazim described the number of development works executed in Lyari Town after inception of city government as 'unmatched'.

The meeting decided construction of roads, sports grounds, gardens and schools in Lyari Town during the next fiscal year. A decision on establishing a community hall was also taken.-PPI
