HYDERABAD, March 18: Activists of Pasban held a demonstration outside the press club here on Thursday to protest against rise in flour price. Speaking on the occasion, Hyderabad Pasban president Mohammad Hussain Khan, vice-president Shafiq Ahmad Qureshi and general- secretary Imran Karim said they would besiege the office of the Hyderabad deputy food director if the flour price was fixed at Rs14.
They warned that the people would come out on the roads if the shortage of flour was not eliminated. They also criticized parliamentarians for maintaining a silence on the issue.
LPP: Activists of the Labour Party of Pakistan held a protest demonstration outside the press club here in support of sacked workers of the Karachi Shipyard.
Talking to the protesters, labour leaders Ali Hassan Jatoi and Ali Nawaz demanded that the retrenched workers should be reinstated in services.
SUBJECT SPECIALISTS: A Sindh Professors and Subject Specialists Association, Hyderabad, general body meeting held here on Thursday demanded that the promotion quota of subject specialists should be increased from 60 per cent to 80 per cent and vacant posts in higher secondary schools of the district should be filled without delay.
BLASTS CONDEMNED: Awami Tehrik chief Rasool Bux Palijo has condemned bomb blasts in Khairpur and Mehrabpur.
He said the people of Sindh had launched a peaceful struggle against the acute shortage of water and for their other democratic rights but he alleged that enemies of the province and agencies were trying to torpedo the struggle.
