LAHORE, March 16: An indiscretion on part of PCB's scorer Shahid Gilani created a major confusion in the Quaid-i-Azam Trophy match between Multan and Karachi at the Bahawalpur Stadium.

According to details, the scorer had credited Karachi's wicket-keeper Ahmed Zeeshan Malik with eight catches in Multan's first innings in the PCB's official scoresheet faxed to the media on Monday. Two of the leading English dailies, including Dawn, had published the scorecard compiled by the scorer.

But on Tuesday, the scorer, instead of owning up to his lapse, claimed that it was the media that had made the mistake in their reports. Tuesday's score sheet (see below) mentioned that Ahmed Zeeshan had taken five catches.
