HYDERABAD, March 14: Political leaders have termed the prime minister's statement about conversion of administrative divisions into provinces as a conspiracy to cut Sindh into pieces.

They were speaking at the "Save National Unity of Sindh Conference" organized by the Sindh Taraqqi Pasand Party here on Saturday. Opposition leader in Sindh Assembly Nisar Khuhro said the proposal of Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Jamali to form provinces at divisional level had some hidden motive and added that the move would have to be resisted.

He said Sindh had waged a relentless struggle against the One Unit, dictatorships and anti-Sindh projects therefore it was being punished by the establishment.

Responding to the criticism aimed at the PPP by certain leaders, Mr Khuhro said instead of hurling accusations against one another, they should unite for the rights of Sindh.

STPP chairman Dr Qadir Magsi said the Sindhi people would not allow the division of Sindh come hell or high water. Awami Tehrik chief Rasool Bux Palijo said the Humood-ur-Rehman Commission had recommended those people who had forced Bengalis to rebel should be prosecuted in a court of law.

Jeay Sindh Mahaz (Jonejo) chairman Khaliq Junejo claimed in the form issued by the ministry of education for the recruitment of teachers, Karachi had been shown as a separate province.

PML-N leader Afzal Gujjar, Sindh National Front leader Gul Mohammad Jakhrani, Taj Mohammad Nahyoon of the Jamiat Ulema-i- Islam, Sultan Mandukhel of the Awami National Party, Sindh Hari Committee chief Azhar Jatoi and others also spoke on the occasion.
