ISLAMABAD, March 10: The MNAs belonging to the People's Party Parliamentarians (PPP) on Wednesday staged a protest rally outside the Parliament House to protest against the murder of Sindh MPA Abdullah Murad Baloch.

The protesters, led by PPP General Secretary Raja Pervez Ashraf and Syed Khursheed Shah, came out of the Parliament House in a procession after the speaker adjourned the proceedings of the National Assembly session for Zohr prayers.

The protesters were carrying placards inscribed with slogans and demands like "Dismiss the Sindh governor", "Interior Minister should resign", "Army go back to barracks", "Remove Musharraf save country" and "Register FIR against killers of Murad Baloch".

Speaking on the occasion, Raja Pervez Ashraf termed the killing of the PPP MPA in Karachi a conspiracy against the democracy. He regretted that the family members of late Murad Baloch were wandering here and there to seek justice and to get the FIR registered against the killers.

The PPP MNA feared that efforts were being made to eliminate political parties from the country. He said the government had completely failed on all fronts. "How can a general, who himself feels unsecured, provide security to the common man," Mr Ashraf said while condemning the regime for poor law and order situation in the country.

The PPP MNA said the Jamali government was formed with the help of 10 lotas (turncoats), who were later offered cabinet slots. He said first the government tried to eliminate politicians through NAB and now it had started killing the politicians.

Referring to the resignation of PPP MNA Zafar Iqbal Warraich, he said the government had staged whole drama only to damage the opposition parties. He said the government had failed to protect life and property of the people and it should immediately resign.

Nawab Yousuf Talpur said despite several requests by the opposition members on the floor of the House, the interior minister failed to give a satisfactory reply that why the FIR had not been registered in the case.

He said the interior minister, on the floor of the House, told a lie that the FIR had been registered. He said if any FIR had been registered then it would have been filed by the police itself and not by the family members of the deceased MPA.

He said the opposition was highlighting the murder of Murad Baloch, as it feared more such incidents in future. "We will have to raise voices to check such incidents in future," he added.

MNA Sherry Rahman regretted that no one had so far claimed the responsibility of the incident. She said no action had been taken against the police officials posted on duty. She also demanded action against those police personnel responsible for delay in the registration of the FIR.
