HYDERABAD, March 10: Employees of Hesco took out a procession here on Tuesday, demanding acceptance of their demands and condemning the Industrial Relations Ordinance, 2002.

Talking to protesters, Pakistan Wapda Hydro Electric Central Labour Union president Abdul Latif Nizamani, general-secretary Iqbal Kaimkhani, Mir Khan Baloch and other leaders demanded restoration of employment quota for their children and award of house rent and selection grade.

They threatened to cut off electricity supply to the country if their demands were not met. They also opposed the proposed privatization of Wapda, saying it would be an anti-workers act.

The union leaders feared that after privatization of Wapda, price of electricity would be increased and workers would be at the mercy of investors. They said the Wapda administration was not providing facilities to employees. The leaders demanded an increase in salaries of employees and repeal of what they called anti-workers laws.
