SUKKUR, Oct 26: Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam (F) took out on Friday an anti-US rally from Dreha stop of Indus Highway to Sukkur City, stretched over a distance of six kilometres.

The rally consisted several thousands of JUI workers from Sukkur, Larkana, Shikarpur, Ghotki and Jacobabad districts, who had come on buses, tractors, cars and other vehi-cles.

Party secretary general Moulana Abdul Ghafoor Hyderi and provincial chief Khalid Mehmood Soomro led the rally which started after Juma prayers at Dreha and reached Sukkur city in the evening.

Participants shouted anti-US and pro-Taliban slogans.

The rally terminated at Clock Tower Chowk where Moulana Hyderi warned of more harsh steps against the government’s Afghan policy.

In his hard hitting speech before a huge crowd, he said his party would organize a wheel jam strike in the next phase, and could even resort to civil disobedience movement against what he called the government’s policy of selling country’s interests.

He said the religious parties had kept their movement peaceful and added if President Musharraf did not care for public sentiments, the protests could become violent.
