QUETTA, March 1: The Balochistan Zamindar Action Committee has agreed that the farmers would pay Qesco arrears and the power authority would ensure smooth supply of electricity to them.

A joint meeting of Quetta Electric Supply Company (Qesco) officials and representatives of the farmers was held on the directives of the federal minister for water and power to discuss the issues including the disconnection of electricity supply to the farmers owing to the outstanding dues.

The meeting agreed that the every grower would deposit Rs8,000 as arrears against them till March 25, wherein Qesco authorities would start the power supply, however, it was decided that Qesco would not be bound to restore power supply if consumers did not abide by the agreement.

The farmers agreed to pay regularly the monthly average bill of Rs4,000 for April, May and June, and a joint meeting would be held on July 1.
