HYDERABAD, May 18: The general secretary of the All Pakistan Trade Unions Organization, Sindh, Mehboob Ali Qureshi, has deplored the nonpayment of salaries to employees of the defunct Sukkur Municipal Corporation.

He also slammed the raids on the houses of union leaders and registration of false cases against them.

In a statement issued here on Saturday, Mr Qureshi said that on the one hand the employees of the defunct municipal corporation were being denied their legal wages and on the other they were being harassed and intimidated by the district administration.

He appealed to the Sindh governor, chief secretary and minister for local bodies to ensure that workers were paid their wages, false cases against them were withdrawn and the arrested workers were released without delay.
