KARACHI, Feb 26: The DCO Secretariat has clarified a report appearing in a section of Press about delay in survey of roads proposed for commercialization.

The report is not based on facts, according to the secretariat which maintained that a detailed survey was not an essential pre-requisite because individual applications would from owners of the property located on these plots which would have to be processed in accordance with law.

It said that the requirement of Master Plan Group of Offices at this moment would be to compile the number of plots and their sizes so that expected population density could be estimated and the anticipated quantum of construction evaluated.

The detailed survey would be more relevant to Works & Services, Water & Sanitation, KESC and Group of CDGK Offices, which would have to survey and prepare for development of their infrastructure to cater to the needs once the commercialization policy was finalized.

The request of Master Plan Group of Offices CDGK for provision of funds for equipment, stationery, petrol and other items was approved about two months back except for the request for vehicles, which was not a genuine requirement and because a ban was in place on purchase of vehicles.

Master Plan Group of Offices has not been able to avail approval for purchase of equipment, thus delaying preliminary work to be done in this connection, it added. -PPI
