HYDERABAD, Feb 25: The managing director, Wasa, Hyderabad, notified here on Wednesday that while repairing an 18-inch diameter pipeline near the Siddiq Plaza, Latifabad-8, on Tuesday evening , a water main got damaged which resulted in the stoppage of water supply to Latifabad.

He said the filter plant located at the Jamshoro Road and the central pumping station located at the Thandi Sarak were also closed because of the bursting of the water main. As a result, some areas in the City taluka also received less water.

He said Wasa had started the repair work and partial supply had been resumed to the affected areas from Wednesday morning. The Wasa official hoped that the repair work would be completed by 4pm after which normal water supply would be resumed.

HESCO: Hesco chief executive Tariq Arshad has cancelled leaves of company employees for March 1 and 2 to ensure uninterrupted power supply during Majalis and other religious programmes.

A spokesman for the company said Mr Arshad had directed SDOs and technical staff to remain present during mourning processions to ensure immediate restoration of power supply in case of its suspension due to unavoidable circumstances. He said the company had made special arrangements to ensure regular power supply to consumers during Muharram.
