LAHORE, Feb 24: The opposition on Tuesday alleged that MNA Chaudhry Wajahat Husain, the brother of PML-Q chief Shujaat Husain, was leading a land-grabber's group in Faisalabad.

PML-N's Sheikh Ijaz Ahmad, on a point of order, drew attention of the treasury towards the allotment of a precious plot opposite the Allied Hospital, Faisalabad, to an influential person.

He demanded the speaker to constitute a committee comprising MPAs from both the treasury and opposition benches to probe the matter. Law Minister Raja Basharat opposed it saying Mr Sheikh should first call on the colonies minister in his chamber and if the minister failed to satisfy him the committee could be formed.

Parliamentary secretary Waris Kahlun, while supporting Mr Raja, said Mr Ijaz had earlier raised a similar issue and the government had settled it without bringing it to the house.

He said the opposition should follow the course this time too. Raja Riaz said the government should take the matter seriously as Chaudhry Wajahat was allegedly heading the land mafia.

It annoyed the law minister so much that he withdrew his offer of forming the committee if the colonies minister failed to satisfy Mr Sheikh, and asked the opposition to submit an adjournment motion and only then the government would take up the issue.
