ISLAMABAD, Feb 23: The two-day PPP meeting which was held in London on February 20 and 21 has resolved to launch a countrywide campaign against the government in consultation with the component parties of the Alliance for Restoration of Democracy from March 23.

The meeting, which was presided over by PPP Chairperson Benazir Bhutto, discussed the political situation in the country and adopted various resolutions.

According to these resolutions, released by the PPP media cell here on Monday, the meeting accused the military dictatorships of fomenting water crisis to make the provinces fight with each other to further their own dictatorship. It hoped that the people would reject such conspiracies.

The party called for ending the anti-labour policies of the present regime. It deplored that despite huge amounts given to Pakistan for joining the war against terrorism, the money had not gone to the people. The PPP condemned the anti-people policies of the present regime which was enriching itself.

The party decided to appoint Senator Enver Baig liaison officer for the labour wings of the party to resolve their matters. It also appointed Asif Ali Zardari as liaison officer for student affairs.

Through another resolution the party appreciated the efforts of the central district Karachi, Rawalakot and other places for the setting up of protest camps which so frightened the regime that they resorted to lathicharges in a bid to disperse the protestors.

The party would consult the ARD leaders with a view to holding nationwide camps in the four provinces, Azad Kashmir, Northern Areas and tribal areas on March 23.

Meetings would also be held at the tehsil level and the people, led by the workers of the political parties, would take an oath to continue the struggle for Quaid-i-Azam's Pakistan until its triumph, putting to an end the anti-people, anti-democratic military usurpation of power which has resulted in the miseries and sufferings of the people, the loss of justice and the rule of law and stopped social progress.

The party asked all its workers to prepare for paying tribute to Quaid-i-Awam Zulfikar Ali Bhutto whose martyrdom anniversary falls on April 4. The anniversary will be observed at Garhi Khuda Bux.

The meeting condemned the attempt by what it called traitors and opportunists to form a new party by the name of PPP. The PPP said that this was a blatant attempt to confuse the people and cheat them by pretending to be anti-military rule when they were its biggest supporters. The meeting dismissed the official claims of achieving macroeconomic stability.
