TOBA TEK SINGH, Feb 23: Political differences between Punjab Forest Minister Dr Ashfaqur Rehman and District Nazim Chaudry Muhammad Ashfaq have resulted in the transfer of DCO Karim Bakhsh Abid.

The district nazim wanted to retain the DCO whereas Dr Ashfaq wanted to replace EDO (finance) with Tariq Najeeb Najmi. The minister won the battle as he not only got Mr Abid transferred but also had Tariq Najmi posted as DCO on Monday.

Notifying the transfer, the Punjab government summoned Mr Abid to Lahore as officer on special duty. The district nazim, it may be added, was also trying to get Tariq Najmi transferred as EDO (finance) from Toba but failed.

FIRED: The Health department on Monday sacked Chak 759-GB basic health unit medical officer Dr Ghulam Mustafa for being absent from duty and misbehaving with patients.
