LAHORE, Feb 20: The Justice and Peace Commission started a three-day Human Rights Capacity Building Workshop for Women here on Friday.

Commission resource persons Wajahat Masood and Tanvir Jahan briefed 66 participants representing 35 human rights groups of Lahore, Rawalpindi, Hyderabad, Karachi, Nawabshah, Jhelum, Rawalpindi, Multan, Sheikhupra, Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Toba Tek Singh and Bahawalpur regions on the procedures for educating their group members on the procedures to be adopted for providing relief to the victims of Karo-kari and honour killings.

The participants were advised to contact legislators in their areas for legislation against karo kari and honour killings. They were also asked to remove undue fears among the womenfolk and ask them to approach the law-enforcing agencies if they saw excesses being committed.
