HYDERABAD, Feb 19: The Sindh High Court, Hyderabad circuit bench, here on Tuesday directed the Sindh Local Government Commission to resolve a controversy pertaining to a cattle market in two months.

The controversy involves the Taluka Municipal Administration, Tando Allahyar, and Nazim, Chambar-I union council, who claim right over Chambar's cattle market, the largest cattle bazaar of Hyderabad district.

Disposing of the petition, Justice Mohammad Musa K. Leghari and Justice Khilji Arif Hussain directed the commission to issue notice to both the parties in 15 days.

Taluka Municipal Officer Zafar Ahmed Memon had filed the petition against the Sindh government, Chambar-I UC and SLGC chairmen. He state that according to the Sindh Local Government Ordinance 2001, the TMA had been empowered to collect fee on sale of animal in cattle market.

However, he said, the respondent UC awarded contract for collection of cattle fee for 2002-2003 and now the UC had given an advertisement in newspaper for auction of cattle fee tax for 2003-2004.

He prayed the court to declare publication of auction's advertisement as illegal and restrain respondents from auctioning rights of recovery of cattle market fee.

MEDICAL CAMP: The management of Hilal-i-Ahmer Hospital, Qasimabad, would organize a free medical camp on Feb 22 from 9am to 1pm. Specialist doctors will give free consultation and medicines to the needy patients. ECG facility will also be provided to the patients in the camp.
