KARACHI, Feb 19: In line with the decisions taken at a high-level meeting at Civic Centre on Wednesday, arrangements have been finalized to ensure availability of wheat flour in adequate quantity at all the 187 Bachat Bazaars as well as in all the areas of the metropolis.
According to a press release issued on Thursday, the city government, with the cooperation of flour mills, has made arrangements to provide quality flour at Rs11 per kilogram at the weekly Bachat Bazaars and at Rs11.50 per kilogram at special stalls being set up in different markets from Saturday (February 21).
The special stalls are being set up at the following places:
Liaquat Market, Malir No 15 Kala Board, Mohammadi Market and Khokhrapar in Malir Town; Hyderi Market, Chandni Chowk Paposh Nagar and Block M Market in North Nazimabad Town; Korangi No 2 and Bilal Chowrangi in Korangi Town; Soldier Bazar, Tariq Road (behind Cafe Liberty) and Mehmoodabad in Jamshed Town; Market Shah Faisal Colony No 1 and Main Bazaar Rifah-i-Aam in Shah Faisal Town; Memon Goth and Maymarabad in Gadap Town; Orangi No 11 & 14 and Aligarh Colony in Orangi Town; Bara Board, Pak Colony, Banaras Chowk and Qasba Colony in Site Town, Chakiwara in Lyari Town; Super Market, Gole Market and Nazimabad Chowrangi No 1 in Liaquatabad Town; Industrial Area, Sindhi Hotel, Sector 5-M and UP Morr Sector 11-C in New Karachi Town, Bahadurabad UC 2, near Rab Medical Centre, Al Hamra Society, Tipu Sultan Road, near Disco Chowrangi, near Baitul Mukarram Masjid and Jauhar Chowrangi in Gulshan-i-Iqbal Town; Babar Market and Korangi No 5 in Landhi Town; Quaidabad and Ibrahim Hyderi in Bin Qasim Town; Karimabad, Water Pump Chowrangi and Al Noor Society in Gulberg Town; Chandni Chowk and Turk Market in Baldia Town; Grax Village, Hussain Bux Market and Massan Road in Keamari Town; and Jodia Bazar and Burns Road in Saddar Town.
The city government has reminded people that its officials and the concerned town administrations would keep a strict check on flour prices with the assistance of elected local government representatives.
The sale of atta would closely be monitored by the officials and those involved in profiteering would be challaned to face an appropriate action. -PPI
