GUJRANWALA, Feb 18: Punjab Jamaat-i-Islami Amir and Mutahida Majlis Amal (MMA) parliamentary leader Liaquat Baloch has said his party would soon launch an anti-government campaign in all district headquarters throughout the Punjab.
Speaking at a news conference here on Wednesday, he claimed that stance of the government on nuclear and Kashmir issues was risky. The government should have brought these issues to the parliament, he added.
He said that the MMA was united and the differences between some leaders would be resolved in a meeting to be held shortly in Islamabad.
He was of the view that Alliance for Restoration of Democracy (ARD) had given a free hand to the government whereas the MMA was opposing it and had refused to accept any share in government. JI district president Allama Ubaidu Rehman Madni was also present on the occasion.
GUJRAT VARSITY: The provincial minister for education, Mian Imran Masood, has said that the government had approved construction of a university in Gujrat which would also benefit students of Azad Kashmir and Gujranwala. He hinted at start of its construction from June this year.
He was speaking at a ceremony at the Gujranwala Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education here on Wednesday. He directed the board authorities to ensure foolproof measures to check cheating in the forthcoming intermediate examination. The board chairman, Dr Muhammad Aslam Ghauri, highlighted the curricular and extra-curricular activities of the board.
