KHAIRPUR, Feb 17: About 10 youths were injured here on Monday when police baton-charged 200 unemployed youth who had gathered at a bank to collect application forms for the posts of school teachers.

The bank officials delayed issuing the forms which enraged the youths who had faced a similar situation on Saturday. The youths began raising slogans against bank officials.

Two policemen, who were on duty at the bank, baton-charged the youths as a result Mumtaz Shar, Nadeem Mangi, Zia Phulpoto, Roshan Channa, Murtaza Shaikh and others were injured.

Later, the youths staged a protest sit-in and burnt tyres on Mall Road, one of the busiest roads of Khairpur, and blocked it for about three hours. The protesters told journalists that the bank officials were selling forms for Rs150 to Rs250 against the scheduled price of Rs100.
