LANDI KOTAL (Khyber Agency), Feb 15: More than 2,000 patients have been treated during the last one week at the free medical camps in Tirah valley. Officials said that four free medical camps were established at Shin Kamar, Ghebi Teega, Benai and Storikhel areas of Tirah valley.

The NWFP governor had directed the political administration of the Khyber Agency as well as health authorities to establish 45 medical camps for free healthcare to the poor people of the far-flung areas.

Out of the total 2,091 patients so far treated and given free medicines, 837 were men, 1038 women, 100 boys and 116 girls. Agency Surgeon Dr Azeem along with a 10-member support staff supervised the camps.

A total of 22 out of the 45 camps would be established at Tirah (Bara tehsil), while the rest would be set up in the far off areas in Jamrud and Landi Kotal sub-divisions. Political authorities were providing logistic support for the camps.

GIRL KILLED: A property dispute between two brothers in Sultankhel area of Landi Kotal claimed the life of a teenaged girl on Sunday morning. Banat Khan and Hayat Khan had a dispute over the ownership of some property since long. They exchanged harsh words on Sunday and opened fire on each other.

As a result, 14-year-old daughter of Banat Khan was hit and seriously injured. She was taken to agency headquarters hospital in Landi Kotal, where she succumbed to injuries.
