PPP's demand

Published February 14, 2004

LAHORE, Feb 13: Punjab PPP information secretary Naveed Chaudhry has demanded that April 4, the day on which Zulfikar Ali Bhutto was hanged to death, should be declared a public holiday in recognition of the late prime minister's role in starting nuclear programme in the country.

In a statement here on Friday, he said Gen Musharraf had praised Mr Bhutto for bringing nuclear technology to the country. But, he said, if the general really meant what he had said, then he should prove it by doing something for Mr Bhutto.

Mr Chaudhry said the least the general could do was declare the death anniversary of the late prime minister a holiday.
